What Happened To Me?!: Volume 1, Chapter 12

WHAT’S ON MY MIND

Specialists. I have my semi annual dental appointment for a teeth cleaning and an exam. A few days later I’ll visit the lab for my blood work. I hope to get official confirmation that my hidden disability is in remission soon afterward.

I also have Del Taco on my mind. It’s my reward on Blood Work Day.

WHAT I BOUGHT

A fabric office chair to replace my peeling pleather gaming chair, and a couple of 4-way nail buffer blocks. Ridges belong on potato chips, not on my fingernails, and I will gladly die on that hill.

WHAT I READ

I tried out a handful of new manga titles this week. All of them were delightful reads, but the yuri title How Do I Turn My Best Friend Into My Girlfriend? surprised me.

Minami discovers she has more than friendship feelings for her childhood friend Yuzu when she witnesses a random guy confessing his love for Yuzu after class. Minami is determined to be that calm, cool girl that sweeps the petite Yuzu off her feet, but it’s Yuzu’s charms that flip the script throughout this volume.

The awkwardness between them was fun to read, and in my humble opinion this title is already worthy of an anime adaptation.

WHAT I LISTENED TO

Jake Gyllenhaal, aka Jakeypoo to some of you, was this week’s guest on the Smartless podcast. I seriously thought Sean Hayes was trying to nudge him out of the closet at one point!

WHAT I FOUND ADORABLE

I don’t know who drew Date A Live antihero/femme fatale Kurumi Tokisaki with cat ears and a tail, but now I feel Kurumi would be a great name for a female black cat.

WHAT SHOCKED ME

The 2024 livery for Team Impul’s Super GT race car. The iconic “Calsonic Blue” was replaced with a darker hue, and via a company merger Calsonic is now Marelli.

Sadly, the only thing that links this Nissan Z to its legendary past is the 12 on its number plates. I will still wear this t-shirt with pride on Race Day.

SLAP COURT IS ADJOURNED THIS WEEK

I made that obnoxious neighbor (in)famous the other day. Moving on...

WHO DESERVES A 10 ON A SURVEY

Rockstar Games Customer Support. My character didn’t receive an exclusive clothing item for completing The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid heist during its first week. I sent an email about the matter just before I went to bed one evening, and within an hour they resolved the issue.

You bet I gave all 10s on a quality survey afterward.

WHAT “WE” ACCOMPLISHED IN GTA ONLINE

My character and I finally unlocked the Tier 4 career rewards for The Chop Shop update which include Death From Above, this golden Buzzard Attack helicopter that’s armed with machine guns and homing missiles.

I look forward to my character flying this nimble, deadly chopper around San Andreas. For business travel, of course. *wink*

WHAT’S UP WITH MY HEALTH

The new office chair has a dark side, or the old gaming chair cursed me.

My sore back is either from adapting to the new chair or from assembling it. It's not serious enough to pop pills to dull the pain, but it did make getting quality sleep a challenge for a few nights.

When I recycled the shipping box a few days later, one of its edges sliced into my index finger. This was no ordinary paper cut. It was reminiscent of my recent misadventures hand washing my chef’s knife, so it required bandages, Polysporin and then Neosporin for a couple of days afterward.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention I lost 1.6 pounds this week, and what might be my last random BG test was well within normal limits.

WHAT’S UP WITH MY EDITING

I finished editing the first three chapters of my manuscript, but now I’m stuck on Chapter 4. It feels like it’s still missing that special something to give it the proper impact while reading it, so the work continues.

  1. Good luck with your appointments this week. I'm sure they'll be good reports. Celebrating with tacos is right up my ally. I am with you on the ridges on fingernails. It's so easy to remedy but so many people don't. It's amazing what hurts as you get older. I went to reach for something in the backseat of my Jeep last week and it hurt for two days. I think I need to get back to stretching. Have a great Sunday!!
