That One Time I...
... Was Rewarded For My Faith
This is not a post about religion or faith in the traditional sense. I promise this will not be a difficult conversation about faith, even if you know next to nothing about Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) vehicles.
With that disclaimer, here we go!
A few hours ago, while sitting in the lobby of a haircut place, I noticed most of my stocks were having a "bad day" at The Casino of Emotions. It's important to use air quotes around that phrase since a bad day for others usually means a good buying opportunity for myself -- also known as "buying the dip".
One of the stocks I "bought the dip" in while waiting my turn for a haircut was Nissan. It's now south of $8 a share, and I love what the taxes I pay to the Japanese government do for my American tax liability the following March. It's a stable stock, so I have faith that my investment in Nissan will continue to pay dividends, no pun intended.
After I left the haircut place with a lot less hair, I saw this ultra rare sight on my way to the grocery store...
This is the first time I've seen a real, live early 1990s Nissan Skyline GT-R, and I was nearly euphoric when I pulled up behind it. This example of the legendary car is no trailer queen or someone speculator's investment, and upon close inspection it's strictly stock. I really wanted to talk to the out of state owner about the car, especially since the cost to make one California smog compliant is five figures, but I figured I'd be a nuisance.
I decided to keep my distance as we pulled into the same expansive parking lot, but I can't get over this feeling that I've been rewarded for my faith in Nissan with this ultra rare sight of an authentic Skyline GT-R on a California public road.
oh shit. here foes blogger again. My comment disappearing from your blog and one other.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I noticed that with Saturday's post. There's a few comments I can't read. This one seems fine, though.
DeleteI would take that as a good sign!
ReplyDeleteI'll take anything at this point.
