Random Thoughts On A Halloween

I’m glad there’s at least one of you who appreciated the short story I threw up for public consumption this week. I was a little nervous about laying bare some secrets I’ve harbored for years — even a few decades. Now that they’re out there, I feel pretty damn good about myself regardless of any perceived faults.

I never claimed to be an angel, but I’ve never been the Antichrist. I’ve always been somewhere in the middle. Perhaps I’ve been an antihero all along?

I finished reading The Spare Room by Andrea Bartz and holy shit was that good. The writing briefly discouraged me, but then I remembered all non-self published books are edited roughly a dozen times by both the author and an editor before they see the light of day.

Andrea’s book also confirmed my suspicions that last year’s novel was too complex. Once I finish the book I’m about to write, I’d like to make some wholesale changes to the other one. I’m not giving up on it anytime soon. I’m just pressing the pause button for now.

I stepped up my workouts this week. I did Zoomies, aka Zumba, every morning on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I also did an hour of weight training on Tuesday afternoon for my chest, shoulders, and back. Today is Arms Day, and both Friday and Saturday will be Zoomies. I’ll either increase the intensity of the 30-minute class or go with a 45-minute one tomorrow. My body feels like it’s ready for more cardio activity.

On the flip side, I stepped on the scale this morning and immediately deleted the entry. I will enjoy myself tonight, but starting tomorrow I need to figure out if I need to cut out certain foods or just reduce my caloric intake.

I hope I don't have to cut out wine. I don't drink every day, but I enjoy having a glass with dinner every two to three days.

Speaking of Halloween, I’ll spend tonight at Bert’s house for barbecue and to help give out candy. I’m assuming I’ll meet a lot of his neighbors, so I’ll wear my Davante Adams jersey. I can’t think of a better way to make friends (or become Public Enemy #1!) than to wear a Las Vegas Raiders jersey.

Finally, my DMs in Reddit got even more interesting this morning. On top of the usual requests for stuff I won't do, I got one inviting me to become a product tester for sex toys. All I have to do is give them my Amazon info and... oh, hell no!

Comments

  1. Product tester for sex toys?!?! Don't do it...I still have back pains. Or was in the life in my men that did me in? Now I have to read the previous post. This opening is killing me with staying up with blogs.
