Reborn As An Early Retiree, I Now Wander America’s Costliest City: Volume 3, Chapter 9
WHAT’S ON MY MIND
Guess who’s back. Back again. The Miku Mustang in Gran Turismo 7. Tell a friend. Also…
Life stuff. When I cleaned Le Crash Pad’s phone booth sized bathroom on Thanksgiving night, reality hit home. I didn’t need to give it the once over like I normally do. I cleaned it as if I were moving out or… in case a certain someone pays me a visit.
Please cut me some slack, y’all. It’s been over a decade since I’ve allowed myself to worry about these things y’all take for granted like breathing.
WHAT I ATE
That mini panettone I had on Thanksgiving night reeked like a homeless drunk wandering the Gaslamp Quarter after midnight, and I’m unsure what type of booze it was. I’ll likely have another one for Christmas.
WHAT I BOUGHT
I went off like Kobe Bryant at Williams Sonoma to the tune of over $400, but at least just about everything I bought was stuff I needed. Some of those items are on order, so that means I return to the store to pick them up.
I might pick up a fondue pot on my next visit. It’s the only reason why I didn’t clear the $500 mark.
THE BUTCH THING I DID
Remember when I removed the soot from Miku’s and Artoria’s exhaust tips with mag wheel polish, a polishing ball and a cordless drill during the summer? I did the same to an ancient stainless steel bathroom wastebasket. It’s not like new but it’s in acceptable condition now.
WHAT MADE ME HAPPY
Getting dressed up for errands. My travels on a cool Thanksgiving Eve took me to my old stomping grounds in the afternoon hours, so I dressed appropriately. A camo printed windbreaker jacket over a button down black shirt, dark denim jeans and brown Timberland boots. I finished the “upscale redneck chic” look with an all black trucker style cap.
WHERE I’M GOING
I’m taking Miku for a topless cruise. The destination? A small town that I haven’t visited in about two decades. The highway has a lot of twisty roads, and the back country is eye candy as long as there’s no wildfires. I’ll pack my TUMI duffel bag as if I’m doing an overnight stay in case anything unexpected happens.
WHAT I LISTENED TO
A lot of stuff that I forgot was in my music collection, including The Cars Greatest Hits album.

WHAT I WATCHED
I only watched part of the second half of the Cowboys win over the Giants on Thanksgiving. I’m not getting my hopes up for the Raiders to get the first overall pick for the 2025 NFL Draft. The Giants are as rancid as spoiled milk.
WELCOME TO SLAPSVILLE…
Those fucking NFL refs that decided the Raiders - Chiefs game yesterday. That’s some Immaculate Reception Tuck Rule level bullshit there.
Yes, I'm just a little bit bitter y'all.
52+ FIST BUMPS GO TO…
The Las Vegas Raiders. Although they were not at their best, they came close to beating the Kansas City Chiefs in their own backyard on Black Friday. The fact the team hasn’t quit during a now eight game losing streak speaks volumes about head coach Antonio Pierce and the rest of the coaching staff.
WHAT’S UP WITH MY HEALTH
I’m a bit of a mess. I’m dealing with a lot of good (The Muse) and bad (my brother) stress and it’s affecting me to the point where I stopped working out midweek. I hope to resume them on Monday morning.
The scale says I’m at 255.6, which is a victory for a holiday week. 0.4 lbs was muscle and the remaining 0.2 I gained is water retention.
This morning my Fitbit Sense 2 said my sleep score was a 79 and my readiness is 100. That’s progress!
Sounds like you're doing well. I thought of you yesterday when I saw a T-Shirt that said "You might beat us on the field but we'll beat you in the parking lot. Raider Nation."
ReplyDeleteLOL! I've seen that t-shirt and it's funny.
DeleteI would look forward to any pictures from your roadtrip...I bet it is beautiful! I'm glad you are posting pictures now, as we get to see what you're seeing.
ReplyDeleteI love panettone. When I was in Portofino end of summer last year, I bought several panettones and had them sent back and gave as gifts. One for myself. They had limoncello in them and were very potent.
Oh, so that's what's in them. Yes, it was quite pungent when I opened the cellophane wrapper.
DeleteI'm sort of jealous, sweetpea! The highlight of my week was the arrival of the Bissell carpet sweeper I ordered! I.AM.DEPRESSED. Looking forward to your roadtrip photos! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI just got back from "The Bread Run", and I'll post something soon.
