Random Thoughts On A Thorsday
I'm starting off this morning on a somber mood. Our dear Savannah and I'm also assuming her family are okay despite the inconveniences she's going through.
The wildfires that run amok here in Southern California serve as a reminder of what I used to do for a living. When I was a Senior Underwriter, I quickly became cognizant of the fact the job has darker elements that I won't go into. Let's just say the job was like being Deadpool or Deathstroke minus the violence and bloodshed.
I was fine with that role until the pandemic hit. Then it felt like my job was to kick people when they were down. They now had COVID-19 to deal with in addition to whatever happened to their homes, their cars, their material possessions, and their lives. That's when I stopped joking about my job duties and learned to compartmentalize my feelings nine hours a day.
I'm so glad I'm retired now.

On to happier thoughts. I get to travel soon!
I received an abundance of emails last night and early this morning that advised me my passport application and supporting documents were received, reviewed and approved. Additional emails confirmed the passport and card were printed and shipped, and I'll receive them within a week.
Now if only I could make up my mind where I want to go this Fall...

When I do my weekly update on Saturdays going forward, I'll share with y'all one of my favorite hobbies. Health permitting, as in my bloodwork, I'll open a new bottle of white or light colored wine every week and share my thoughts.
I'll forewarn y'all, I'm not one of those snobs that cares about tannins and what flavors are on my palette during or after a meal. I simply care whether or not I enjoyed it solo and/or with dinners of baked salmon and sauteed chicken -- and if I'll buy it again based on its price.
I typically drink a six-ounce serving with dinner four nights a week, which is perfect to empty a bottle weekly.
No way could I have done your job without telling someone at your place of employment to go fuck themselves. I am starting to get very anti insurance company and any big corporation. Which is why i have never shopped Amazon. I refuse to add to the support of big corp at least when greedy bitches own it...and hurt the small business.Convenience or not I refuse.
ReplyDeleteI worry about those fires. My friends daughter and boyfriend lost their home yesterday....and have yet to reach another blog reader. California already has enough weather anomalies to worry about without having to worry about high force winds yet. I mean at this rate...what will be left of California in 20 short years to come??
I can't even begin to know how the people in California going through this feel. It is so sad to me. A friend of TBG's lost his home also and I can't even imagine.
ReplyDeleteCorporations much like the government ruin anything they get their hands on. It's all about the money for them and they don't give a shit about employees, customers, or anyone else. I'm glad you were able to walk away. I'm working on it.
