Temecula: Day 2

I learned a lot during a day full of ara, ara moments. For starters, this is the southbound commute on I-15 heading out of Temecula. For people who live here and their 9 to 5 jobs are in San Diego, this is why it's a two hour commute each way. It's the same in reverse at four in the afternoon, as I found out upon my arrival.

In addition to 30 minutes of walking, I used the stairs at every opportunity to get my exercise in. I got credit for 13 flights on my Fitbit today so far, which is perfect for burning off the calories from the satisfying breakfast buffet and everything else I consumed during the day.

This sign made me laugh. Up until six years ago, San Diego had a notorious strip club called The Body Shop where the dancers were topless and bottomless. I may or may not have been acquainted with this establishment in my late teens to early twenties.

I learned a couple of things about packing for a trip. If I want to use the fitness center, I need proper weight training gloves. I picked up two pairs at Dick's Sporting Goods in my correct size. It's a 50/50 shot that I move up Friday's weight training workout to tomorrow morning.

I also picked up three USB-C cables at Best Buy after I discovered the TUMI carry on luggage and the USB power banks require those specific connectors on both ends of the cable to charge my stuff. Oops!

This is the view from the Meritage restaurant at Callaway Winery at lunch time. They make more than golf clubs, y'all!

It doesn't look like much because it's January and cold as fuck at night, but when the weather gets warmer you'll see lots of grapes growing in the foreground. The sunsets over Temecula are beautiful from this vantage point.

I had the rainbow trout entree paired with...

A glass of 2022 Winemaker's Reserve Harmonique. It's 70% Rousanne, 30% Chardonnay and 100% scrumptious by itself and with the entree above. I didn't notice until I looked at the label that I purchased two out of only 2,500 bottles that were made. I look forward to opening my bottle during the next four weeks. If I know Bert, he'll pop it open as soon as he gets it!

I took Miku for a topless cruise around the city after lunch, and I can confirm that unless you're apartment hunting the city overall is a safe place to live. If I were to ever leave San Diego, I'd be very comfortable calling Temecula my next home.

I stopped at Barnes & Noble for a Starbucks Dragon Drink, and also picked up this magazine. I always do things for a reason, so this may or may not have something to do with Spo's (hopefully) vacation plans next month.

I loved Wahoo's enough to pay them a visit for dinner a second night in a row. The interior screams Mission Beach vibe, but sadly the only Wahoo's in San Diego County is up the coast in Encinitas.

I gave into my desires to have a sin meal during this mini vacation, and here it is. A spicy crispy fish sandwich with onion rings. I also had chips and salsa to go with it.

Ara ara! I might need to hit the weights first thing in the morning after all!

  1. What a great getaway, sweetpea! We haven't tried Callaway wines, so I'll share your info with the MITM! Our California wine experiences have been mostly Napa/Sonoma vineyards. xoxo

    1. I'm happy to report Callaway has really stepped up their game. They were once mid at best and always available at stores. Now you can only buy them online or in person there, and they're a lot better now.
