Palm Desert: Day 3 - A Change Of Plans
I woke up with the best of intentions. I moved weight training workout to today so I can keep Friday morning’s itinerary at a bare minimum before I check out. The muscles were barely willing despite 7 hours of sleep, but off I went to the fitness center to do my thing. Eight exercises to work out my biceps and triceps, five sets of ten reps. It’s the perfect prescription to work those muscles to exhaustion… except I can’t. Someone walked off with one of the 15-pound dumbbells. Ara ara!
I settle for another sunrise walk. My exposed skin is thankful I can feel a cool breeze instead of a hot blast on this journey. I only stop to take one picture, a quickie in front of The Shops at Palm Desert, to wish Spo a Happy Thorsday. I also ran into my first homeless person. We pass like ships in the night, and I noticed despite his struggles he’s smiling. If only I had cash on me…
I walk a little further than I did yesterday, but my leg muscles protest my brisk pace so I settle for getting in nearly 5k steps just after seven o’clock. I bypass today’s free breakfast on my way up to my room because I’ve got big plans for the day. Yesterday was my shopping adventure and today is my epicurean journey.
I have three different restaurants to visit, and there’s a good chance I’ll fall in love with all of them. The French Corner Cafe, where I had lunch yesterday but didn't lose a condom, has a few healthy breakfast options that could rival what I cook for myself on weekends. Tommy Bahama promises to be an experience. The exterior looks inviting, and the menu options are right up my alley. All I need to do is sample the food with a paired wine before I pass final judgment.
As for dinner, I did an extensive online search after I discovered the nearby Buffalo Wild Wings is potentially rubbish. I’ve opted for a place in Palm Springs that seems like it’s the Victorinox of eateries. They serve a variety of large portioned dishes like a diner, and according to the locals they do them well. I have no idea what I’ll order but I hope this place becomes a “go to” for future visits. If any of these locations screams “Fuck my diet”, this is the place.
I'll work on my novel off and on throughout the day. If I can knock out Chapter 6 before lunch that would be ideal, and I just might visit Starbucks Cafe in the midafternoon to work on Chapter 7.
