Palm Desert: Day 3 - Epicurean & Writing Goals

It’s about eleven o’clock local time and I could die a fulfilled man. I don’t want to die today, so please interpret that last sentence as a figure of speech, okay? I revisited the French Corner Cafe for what I hoped would be a delightful breakfast. I was so smitten with yesterday’s light lunch that I knew there was a zero percent chance that I’d be disappointed.

To start the meal I opted for a croissant that was so buttery flaky good that I had forgotten it was served with authentic French butter and a favorite jam on the side. It more than lived up to its “Best in the Valley” label. The orange juice I drank instead of coffee is freshly squeezed and also top tier. That’s S-ranked if you’re into anime or manga.

I ordered an egg white omelet stuffed with smoked salmon, goat cheese and spinach. Two tomato slices and a cup of fresh fruit accompanied it. I decided against using salt and pepper so I could taste the dish as is to truly judge it. I quartered one of the tomato slices, mixed it with an omelet bite and and chewed it. The moment it hit my tongue I realized I need to up my cooking game. What I serve at Le Crash Pad is healthier, but this was perhaps the best omelet I’ve ever eaten away from home.

I was so impressed that I took this $37 meal and added more than a 30% tip so the damage came out to an even $50. My only question about this place is the following. If I only eat here once upon my return to Palm Desert or Palm Springs, do I dine here for breakfast or for lunch?

As for my writing, Chapter 6 is now completed. If I choose to start working on Chapter 7, I will likely do that sometime in the afternoon hours. I suspect another visit to the Starbucks Cafe inside Barnes & Noble is in my near future?

  1. Every time I see outside pictures of Palm Spring and Desert, it reminds me of Bedrock from the Flintstones.
