Palm Desert: Day 3 - Gettin' My Resort Groove On

This afternoon was the big day. Tommy Bahama's restaurant. Lunch at one o'clock. Did it live up to my expectations?

I had no prayer of reserving a table within 45 minutes, so I bellied up to the bar where it's first come, first served. The gentleman behind the glass was exceptional, and ensured he was tipped generously.

He recommended I try New Zealand's Dog Point sauvignon blanc with...

... this Chilean sea bass featuring guajillo roasted tomato risotto, jalapeno avocado salsa, baby spinach and citrus olive relish. The best word to describe this combination is harmonious. The fruit of one played well with the spices of the other. The aftertaste had quite a kick to it, which I loved.

I noticed this varietal can be found at Total Wine for about $25, and I disagree with one of the one star reviews. It does not taste like cat pee, but it could be ho hum if you pair it with a seafood dish that doesn't bring spice or heat to the party.

Between the wine, the dish and the laid back atmosphere I really enjoyed my Tommy Bahama experience. So did the ladies and gents I chatted up while I was there! I would love to visit their marlin bar near Le Crash Pad to experience happy hour in the coming weeks.

Oh, the total cost including a 30% tip was north of $80. Ara ara!

On my way out the door Miku played my favorite parlor game. I never thought a Honda Accord and a Hyundai Tucson would be big enough for Maxi MINI Maxi. We drove topless around Palm Desert for a bit before we returned to our hotel room.

But there's more to come. I can't wait to show y'all what's for dinner...

  1. I still spied the Hendricks!!!!! And the "the total cost including a 30% tip was north of $80." That is not bad. When I go to dinner here or on Philly. my dinner and drinks bill is usually around $100-150!

    1. That's the thing. I limit myself to one glass of wine otherwise I'd be in that price range myself!
