Rebirth Of The Red Lantern: Volume 1, Chapter 10

WHAT’S ON MY MIND

Warren Buffett. I have a lot of respect for him as an investor, and he’s the reason why I updated my blog’s subtitle. I live that statement every time the stock market tanks.

I checked my investments mid month and I’m quite pleased. Investment growth has stagnated, but mutual fund losses are offset by CD and high yield savings gains. This is why I'm diversified AF.

WHAT BOTTLE I OPENED

District Series Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 2022 (Total Wine, $19.99) The 2025 Wines page is updated with a brief review.

WHAT I BOUGHT AGAIN

20 shares of Best Buy (BBY) at $71.85. The 5.23% dividend yield makes it worth holding regardless of its price, especially now that CD rates are falling.

WHAT I BOUGHT AND REGRETTED

Wicked Joe’s Wicked French coffee. I finished an eight-ounce serving and then threw the bag in the trash. I’m confident it’d lose a blind taste test with used 5W-30 motor oil.

WHAT I BOUGHT AND LOVED

I emancipated myself from Fitbit. The Charge 6 stopped tracking my health metrics, and now an analog Casio watch adorns my wrist. It’s easy to read, rugged and only about $32!

WHAT MADE ME LAUGH

This new MLB hat design has either the team name or city in script behind its logo, which is fine except for three teams in the second row. From left to right you have the Houston “AsHos”, the Los Angeles “AnAels” and the Texas “Tetas” — the Spanish slang word for tits. Ara ara!

WHERE I’M GOING

Could this be the week I visit Dudley’s for lunch? The weather should be more agreeable for a sandwich, a loaf of bread and pantry items.

WHAT SACRED TEXTS I READ

I was a bit melancholy when I read Call Of The Night. The next volume will be its last, and I’ll miss Nazuna, Ko, and all of the other characters that made the story so enjoyable.

WHAT I WATCHED

Four nights of Aussie Supercars at Adelaide. Every race is 19 laps of barely controlled mayhem on a road course and I love it!

WHAT I LISTENED TO

Twisted Sister? What is that?! Well… “I Wanna Rock” and sometimes “We’re Not Gonna Take It” anymore.

THE TOMMY MILNER SALUTE GOES TO…

I rejoined Reddit (WTH?) and a few people on there just don’t know how to agree to disagree. Well, it’s a them problem and I can’t fix that other than blocking them.

A FIST BUMP GOES TO…

Ben Affleck for saying, “I have the money, You’re broke!”. Say what you will about his acting and love life, but I love the money lesson he taught his son Samuel when he eyed a $6k pair of Dior Air Jordans.

WHAT’S UP WITH MY HEALTH

Due to the weather and the plumbing repairs at Le Crash Pad, I took a three day break from exercising. My eye exam showed excellent eye health and no change in my prescription. I'll no longer report my weight since it seems to stay within a five pound range, but if there's a problem I'll tell y'all there's a problem.

  1. I've always thought highly of Warren Buffet also. He's a very down to earth, financially smart man. I hope all is going well with you and that you have a great week.
