Saturday Night's Alright For Preppin'

Sometimes the best part of prepping for a trip is the unexpected. I meant to visit B&N across the county in the morning hours, but both Amazon and T-Link conspired against me.

It all started on Friday night. My FireTV 4k stick bit the dust just after dinner, and The Porch Gods delivered a 4k Max model this morning to replace it. Hooking it up to the 55" Samsung TV was a cinch, but then my router got sassy with me. The stick wouldn't connect to my network, and I installed a firmware update on the router as part of its troubleshooting. Then the network couldn't be found by any of my devices.

To make a long story short, I did a system restore and reinstalled my WiFi network to resolve the issue. Ara ara!

I made it to B&N just after two o'clock and wrote half of a chapter while sipping a chai latte in the Starbucks Cafe. 500 words in roughly 30 minutes is a brisk pace for me, so I was quite pleased with myself.

While I was there I picked up another "classic" novel to read in the near future plus another magazine for the Temecula trip.

The latest weather forecast has also thrown me a curve ball. It's going to be 86 degrees when I arrive in Old Town Temecula at around noon on Tuesday, so bringing a bottle of wine from home is not happening. I located a Total Wine within walking distance of the B&N there, so don't be shocked if I sample a sauvignon blanc or a chardonnay with some popcorn in my hotel room every night of my stay.

This also meant I had to break my "no pasta" rule in order to faithfully sample the complex Tres Llaves 2021 Red Blend I opened last night. It went well with a boneless rib eye steak, but it really brought out the tomato sauce flavor in the frozen dinner on the left. It's also quite good when sipped by itself, which surprised me.

  1. I used to eat Marie C frozen meals for a quick lunch.
