Playing The Villain & Other Stuff

I'm not going to lie. It's fun to play the dashing villain. That's exactly what I did the moment I climbed out of bed this morning and decided to wear either a Raiders jersey or hat throughout the day.

There's this petite, friendly woman that works at one of the two grocery stores I frequent. I'll call her Cathy since she reminds me of the gymnast Cathy Rigby -- if she had gotten piercings and tats after she retired from competition.

Well, Cathy saw me at the store when I was buying food for tonight's festivities and when she saw me in my Raiders jersey she called me a traitor. I laughed it off since that right there told me she's a Chargers fan.

I can't hold it against her. When you wear Raiders stuff in America's Costliest City it comes with the territory.

The villainy continued once I got a hold of, let's call him Bolt Man. He's a friend I made over three decades ago and we did just about everything together. We were also San Diego Chargers fans until I made my heel turn in 2002 when the Spanos family first made rumblings about moving to Los Angeles if they didn't get a new stadium. That's when Bolt Man nicknamed me Benedict Arnold!

Anyway, Bolt Man and I have been keeping in near daily touch since I signed up for WhatsApp two weeks ago. He's ten time zones away but still keeps up with American sports. I don't know how he does it, but he can stream the San Diego Padres, the Los Angeles Kings, and even the Los Angeles Chargers so we have plenty to chat about.

Tonight, we were chatting up a storm during tonight's NFL Draft. It's no secret that I wanted the Raiders to draft Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, and I got my wish. The Chargers drafted their own running back, North Carolina's Omarion Hampton, and Bolt Man was pleased. It was a great day for both of us.

On a more lighthearted note, I removed the Raider Nation license plate frames to fully deck out Miku and Artoria with the gifts I bought for them during the past week.

Miku now has a decal for her rear window to go with the new license plate frame. Now everyone can figure out on their own she's named Hatsune Miku without me explaining why.

Artoria Pendragon, aka Saber, got the same treatment once her license plate frame arrived.

Now I'll get some rest and then think about what Raiders jersey I'll wear for Ivy tomorrow!
