Random Thoughts On A Thorsday Eve
I’ve had a lot of fun getting out of the house — err, traveling — during the past three months or so. I believe I’ve learned a few things along the way.
Putting Lectric Shave in a TSA approved bottle is highly NOT recommended unless you want that scent on everything it’s packed with. Yeah, that happened during my last trip. Luckily the damage was minimal thanks to a Glad sandwich bag.
As much as I love my Panasonic ARC5 electric razor, it’s too big to take on the road. I also have to pack the oil, the brush and liquid hand soap to properly care for it. That’s a lot of work for something I may use every other day even at home.
An alternative pre electric shave product and a travel sized Panasonic electric razor that recharges via USB-C will be delivered to Le Crash Pad by the time you read this. I hope those work out better.
I’m a stickler for deodorant. That flaky white stuff is rubbish, so I’ve packed a full sized Gillette gel for my travels. I discovered last night that Speed Stick comes in a travel size gel. A six pack of those will arrive via The Porch Gods later today.
Shower poofs rule. I found out the hard way when I forgot to pack one on my last trip. I’ll remember to pack one this time, and more importantly, bring it home. Those are good for at least 30 days.
Artoria is more suited for travel since she has MINI Connect, aka satellite navigation. Miku is preferred for those 3-4 hour day trips I’m quite fond of. That’s how I’ll roll with them going forward.
I reached Silver Elite status with Marriott after my last trip, and one perk is priority late checkout. It’s not guaranteed but I’ll kindly ask if I can get a 2pm checkout on this next trip. I’m on good terms with the front desk so it doesn’t hurt to ask.
I cannot stream the Padres on my Surface Pro 11 due to the MLB.TV app is not available for Windows. I’ll need to pack my Samsung tablet if I want to watch baseball on the road, but that’s fine. My TUMI backpack has storage pouches in the main compartment for both.
As of Thursday afternoon I’ve written 38 out of 52 chapters of my novel. I just might give myself a few extra writing days off so I can officially finish the first draft while on the road.
Wait till you start flying!!!! Especially aboard. Toiletries get very interesting to pack. I have learned to take the smaller sizes or buy them once at the destination of choice. And mixing and matching outfits is a huge plus.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. The outfit part is a bonus. I love it when I can get two half days out of the same pair of jeans.
DeleteIt sounds like you have all of the little kinks worked out for future travel. We were supposed to take a road trip this weekend but with three days of 'historic' rainfall predicted it doesn't sound as fun so we'll wait a week or two.
ReplyDeleteOh, I heard about that during yesterday's Padres game. I doubt there will be baseball this weekend in Chicago, and I hope you and everyone else out there will be safe.
DeleteNo rubbish deodorant, ever!
