Disruption. Heavy equipment and a copious amount of orange vested workers will rehabilitate the street in front of Le Crash Pad starting today. I have no idea how bad things will get between eight thirty to three thirty, but at least I’m not trapped at home while the madness plays outside my living room window.
WHAT BOTTLE I OPENED THIS WEEK
Chalk Hill Estate Chardonnay 2021. I caught this highly rated wine on sale at Vons for $29.99 and holy hell this one is worth it even at its full $52 retail price. Check out the 2025 Wines page for the deets.
WHAT I ACQUIRED
This “Hecho en Mexico” rucksack my sister gave me upon her return from a week long South of the Border cruise. I don’t care that it’s not TUMI. I love it for obvious reasons.
WHERE I WENT
I’m not 100% physically but after my weight training workout I felt good enough to travel to Dudley’s for lunch and shopping.
WHAT I ATE
This time I had the Bajapotle turkey sandwich and it brought the heat. I might have a new menu favorite here.
WHAT I BOUGHT
This is the haul from my latest “Bread Run”. I don’t care if that 12oz bag of Cafe Moto whole bean coffee was $19.99. It’s on par with anything out there as far as my palette’s concerned. I’m also thrilled that asiago olive bread is back in stock.
WHAT MADE ME LAUGH
If I tell you it was drinking the delicious tears of modern women crying on TikTok over “Chad” not committing to them, does that make me a villain? I really don’t care if it does. I never get tired of watching those YouTube reaction videos.
WHAT MADE ME CURIOUS
There’s a quartet of crows that hang around Le Crash Pad. Did one of them follow me to Dudley’s?

WHAT I WATCHED
The anime movie Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom. Unlike the two prior compilation films, this was new content. Despite the fact many of the supporting cast was absent, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and hope some of these new characters will be in Season 5. Well, I’m assuming there will be a fifth season somewhere down the road.
WHAT I LISTENED TO
On the way up to Santa Ysabel I blasted Journey with Miku’s top down. Not the latest stuff. I’m talking old school Steve Perry and Gregg Rolie singing their hearts out on songs like “Feeling That Way” and “Wheel In The Sky”.
THE MOMOKA KAWARAGI SALUTE GOES TO…
The local rental market. I don’t live in an upscale neighborhood but it’s central to just about anything in America’s Costliest City. That’s why a one bedroom apartment nearby rents for $3,000, a house the size of Le Crash Pad lists for $3,999, and both have the curb appeal of a shit hole. Ara ara!
I’m not going to ask how people can afford to live here because I already know. It’s called every adult tenant must have a job and two side hustles just to afford their share of rent, gas and groceries.

Canon. My “obsolete” SX620 HS camera can still take pictures like this on 25X zoom without a tripod. I knew I’d get a decent shot of those cows on Highway 78 from about a hundred yards away with it.
WHERE I’M GOING
I depart for yet another 3 day/2 night trip to Temecula Valley next week. I’ll make my return to Danza del Sol winery to buy at least one bottle to bring home. I want to eat at Richie’s All American Diner plus an upscale dining chain restaurant but I don’t have an itinerary yet.
I’ll also drop by the dealership to get Artoria’s oil changed beforehand. Gotta take care of her so she continues to take care of me.
