Rebirth Of The Red Lantern: Volume 2, Chapter 4
Changes. Going forward I’ll post my weekly updates on the traditional Wednesday. Mondays and Tuesdays are slow days for me, and they’re the perfect time to put this kind of post together. I’ve also streamlined the template a little bit. Unless there’s a change in my health there’s really isn’t much to talk about. I could also say the same for what I’m listening to. I seem to listen to the same music or a Padres game on the stereo lately.
WHAT BOTTLE I OPENED THIS WEEK
2020 Danza del Sol Meritage (Danza del Sol Winery, $105) I opened the first “library” wine I’ve ever purchased, but I’ll need another day of tasting before I update the 2025 Wines page.
I have a venerable Canon Powershot SX620 HS camera that I’d like to use instead of my smart phone to take photos, and this $15 memory card reader allows me to copy the images to my Surface Pro 11. It’s a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the latest Powershot model just to get Bluetooth capability.
WHAT MADE ME LAUGH
The Padres playing on the road. If the team is going to win 100 games this season, they’ll need to win 75 out of 81 home games. Ara ara!
WHAT MADE ME CRINGE
This modern dating YouTube reaction video. A TikTok user tells us that the 80/20 online dating rule (80% of women only date the top 20% of men) is something incels came up with, then proves that the rule is actually 90/10 for someone with below average looks. I'd love to say this woman is the exception but sadly she's the rule, y'all. This video perfectly illustrates why I feel online dating is a waste of my time, energy and resources.

WHAT I WATCHED
I tried watching a hockey game but it was background noise as I read The Book of Mormon. I just can’t get myself to watch the modern game, and the truth is I could say I’ve been this disengaged for several years now.
I just learned the Toronto Maple Leafs are killing it this season, and yet I really don’t care whether or not they choke in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year. I'm just not into the NHL anymore.

A FIST BUMP GOES TO…
I love how Vons has an assortment of good wines for sale, and the ones that were rated 90 or above by Wine Enthusiast are clearly marked. This really makes my 2025 Wine Challenge worth pursuing now that I have a plethora of great “bang for your buck” wines readily available to purchase.
WHERE I’M GOING
Due to a stomach issue I was unable to visit Dudley’s this week. I will make the trip next week weather and health permitting.
I’m also toying with the idea of booking a 3 day/2 night stay in Temecula Valley for May instead of an overnight trip. Setting an itinerary rather than finances are why I haven't decided anything yet.
