Say Hello To My New Friend

With temperatures warming up at Le Crash Pad, I had no choice but to purchase a wine refrigerator. Since I tend to buy wines that are classified as "drink now" and space is limited, I purchased this six bottle model that about as big as an old school PC tower.

This unit operates between 45 to 65 degrees, but I feel 55 is best. Reds only need to sit on the counter for 15-20 minutes to come up to the optimal serving temperature, while whites can be served as is. Of course once the bottle's opened I'll need to put it in the regular refrigerator.

My only concern is that when we get our heat waves between late August and early September the ambient temperatures will fall outside its operating range. If that's the case, I'll need to take those bottles and store them on their sides in the regular refrigerator.

I opened up a bottle for dinner tonight, so now I've got a top rack open for business...
