What's Shakin'?
I normally go into radio silence the day before a trip so I don't inundate y'all with blog posts, but something very important happened this morning.
First of all, I'm fine. My family is fine. From what I can tell our homes are fine, too. Anyway...
Just after ten o'clock my local time a large earthquake struck south of Julian. I felt it while sitting in the dentist chair just before my annual x-rays were about to be taken. The office is literally within a couple of miles of the Pacific Ocean, and even that far out I felt the ground roll for a good fifteen to twenty seconds.
It doesn't appear anyone was injured and no structures were damaged, but I'm legit worried. Yesterday a 3.5 earthquake struck in the same general area, and now we had a 5.2 plus several smaller quakes in the general vicinity. The amber dots are quakes that have occurred within the past day, and the red ones are the ones that have struck within the hour of this screenshot.
Now that we know the 3.5 was a precursor to the 5.2 quake, is today's quake the biggest in this swarm? Or is it the precursor for something bigger within the next 72 hours?
I hope everything will be okay. I'm tentatively planning a lunch at Dudley's next Monday.
Our mobiles sounded alerts/alarms shortly after the quakes! Glad you and yours are OK, sweetpea! xoxo (Seriously missing Dudley's now)
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone (and everything) is OK.

I try not to look on the downside, but the earthquakes seem to be happening more numerously again, and between all the other weird events you guys have been getting between flooding and fires weaken the ground layers, and a big quake long overdue, I worry for my friends and yourself out there...and hope, heavens forbid, it does hit y'all when your no where near California. My friend Kailyne, you, Shirley, Savvy and Cali Boi, not to mention two friends who are already in the process of closing up shop to move back east after the fires.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear everything and everyone is ok. Mother Nature has been a real b*tch lately.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to read that you are okay. I thought of you when I heard about the quake in San Diego. Thanks for letting us know that you are okay.
