Random Thoughts On A Sunday Morning
I suppose I should come up for air and let y'all know I'm alive and well, huh?
Let's get the important stuff out of the way. Tariffs are here. I pledged to support one of my favorite comics on Kickstarter the morning I left for Temecula Valley. The price shot up 50%, and I'm assuming it's to cover offshore printing costs.
Why do I bring this up? Empty shelves.
Take it from someone that had pets during the pandemic. Keep at least three months worth of pet food on hand at all times until this bullshit blows over. There's nothing more stressful than running low on pet food and then finding empty shelves no matter where you turn, as I learned firsthand four years ago.
Don't be like me, okay?

The novel editing is going a lot better than anticipated. Unlike prior writing efforts, editing isn't a chore. It mostly entails me fixing a few errors while rewriting one or two paragraphs here and there to give them more weight.
Today is an off day for workouts, so I hope to get in two chapters before I immerse myself into GTA Online after dinner.

Derek Carr retired, and boy do I have thoughts about that!
I have no ill will against Carr, but his fans are another matter. Let's call it the Tim Tebow Effect. That's when insufferable God-fearing Christians elevate a player to God-tier status only because they're above average and a believer.
Carr should be remembered as a good, but not great quarterback that was never the same after he broke his leg in 2016. Some will disagree with me, but facts are facts. He put up great numbers with the Raiders, but the truth is those numbers were inflated via garbage time, aka after the outcome was decided.
When Pro Football Reference says you had a similar career as Jim Everett, not even He can dispute he's not Hall of Fame worthy.

I'll end this post with a few more random things...
We're enduring a heat wave. The ambient temperature reached 88 degrees indoors at Le Crash pad yesterday, but the wine fridge maintained its contents at a constant 55 degrees. Yay!
The travel shaver doesn't have two outer foils like the Panasonic ARC5. It must be used "one way" but it gives a close shave when used correctly. The user manual doesn't say anything about oiling the blades after cleaning them, but I'm doing it to be safe.
I hope Bud Black keeps his managerial job despite last night's 21-0 loss to the Padres. It's not his fault the Colorado Rockies don't have quality pitching.
I fear Meritage will change its menu before the month is out. My sister leaves for a 2+ week long European cruise soon. Take one guess where I might go for a day trip this coming week?
I don't think people realize just how bad this is going to get....and how deep and everything this is going to affect. My friend the Dame had a blowout week at the floral shop, even though the cost of flowers has doubled. He can't swallow the cost forever...and his floral wholesaler has said that some countries are thinking of not even servicing the US. I don't blame them. If I were one of those countries, I'd tell trump to go fuck himself, then cut all goods to the US completely and say Good Luck bitches. Surprised China hasn't already.
ReplyDeleteLosing access to certain flowers would endanger that industry. Holy hell!
DeleteI remember the pet food shortage during the Covid years. I was told it was the cans and packaging that caused it. Jet was a very picky eater and only liked one kind of food. Since we first brought Binx home I've gotten him used to three different kinds of food, just in case. I've read to stock up on anything sold in cans. Scary times we live in.
ReplyDeleteI still remember what happened like it was yesterday. I literally had about five days worth of food left for Terri and Torrie, and I took a PTO day just to visit Petco as soon as they opened. That's what it took to get a larger bag of Iams for them.
