Rebirth Of The Red Lantern: Volume 3, Chapter 3
Finances. I checked the financial crock pot on Tuesday after the stock market closed and I’m quite pleased with the latest results. I’m not foolish enough to give Tariff Bro (yes, that’s my new nickname for him!) credit, but he hasn’t been a detriment either.
WHAT BOTTLE I OPENED THIS WEEK
2024 Callaway Special Selection Monarque ($35). I mentioned earlier how it paired with cheeses and strawberries due to its fruity and floral profile, but please check out the deets on the 2025 Wines page for how it went with other foods.
WHAT MADE ME HAPPY
My dental hygienist was very pleased with the overall condition of my teeth and gums during my recent visit. It’s not quite happy wife, happy life but I consider her very important to my overall well being.
WHAT GREATLY DISAPPOINTED ME
I’m down to one Tommy Bahama shirt and I’m unlikely to buy another. I prefer my “resort chic” shirts to be more durable than wet crepe paper, and $62.50 per wear is too expensive even for me.
WHAT I BOUGHT
A few weeks ago The Porch Gods delivered this Hamilton Beach grinder. It can grind up to 14 cups (approximately 3 ounces) of whole beans at once, has three different grinds, and it's easy to clean. I’m quite pleased with this purchase.
WHAT MADE ME LAUGH
I’ve guessed the word in Wordle exactly once since Friday morning. I’m beyond pissed off at going 1-4 this truncated week, but all I can do is laugh at my current run of ineptitude. Or should I shorten that to inept since that’s five letters?
WHAT HORRIFIED ME
I cleaned the keys on my MSI laptop before writing this post. After I used a few Q-tips I grabbed the entire package from the bathroom. I really had no idea how many I was going to use until I was finished. It was less than a dozen, but not my much. Ara ara!
WHAT SACRED TEXTS I READRita Hayworth & Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King was this month’s $5 short story with any purchase at the Starbucks Cafe in Temecula. I don’t remember seeing the movie, but after reading this short story I just might look for it on Prime Video. I’m also reading the following:
- A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway (In progress)
- Green Lantern Corps #6
Also from J-Novel Club:
- The Poison King: Now That I’ve Gained Ultimate Power, The Bewitching Beauties In My Harem Can’t Get Enough Of Me, Volume 5
- Blade Skill Online: Crushing The Competition With My Abysmal Stats, Useless Class and Garbage Weapon! (manga), Volume 1
- Make It Stop! I’m Not Strong… It’s Just My Sword! (manga), Volume 1
- An Introvert’s Hookup Hiccups: This Gyaru Is Head Over Heels For Me!, Volume 11
WHAT PODCASTS I LISTENED TO
- Disgraceland: Guns N’ Roses, Parts I & II and Motley Crue, Part I
- Hollywoodland: Sharon Stone
WHAT I WATCHED
Bad Girl debuted on HIDIVE two Saturdays ago and it did not disappoint. I knew it was going to go off the rails in a good way early when good girl Yuu decides to get large (but faux) ear piercings and two toned hair (it's real) to get the attention of the disciplinary committee chairman she likes.
THIS WEEK’S TOMMY MILNER SALUTE GOES TO…
I don’t have anyone this week. Again. Finally…
A FIST BUMP GOES TO…
Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jim Clancy, who died on Monday at age 69. Like teammate Dave Stieb, Clancy was a great pitcher that was overlooked. If he had better run support, he would’ve won 20 games a few times. If he pitched in a major media market, he’d be more well known.
I’ll never forget him or his contributions to the Jays during their formative years, so there’s that.
