Reborn As An Early Retiree, I Now Wander America’s Costliest City: Volume 1, Chapter 4

WHAT’S ON MY MIND Pain. Since Monday I’ve been in the middle of someone else’s crisis event, for lack of a better term. It was even more troubling after I unearthed more information about that person.  I won’t spill the deets on what happened, but I can confirm that any pain I felt after the first of my two deep cleaning appointments pales in comparison to this ongoing situation. WHAT I ATE Matcha green tea mochi on Monday night. It’s 80 calories and relatively low in sugar and carbs, so it’s perfect as the occasional after meal palette cleanser.  Somehow, the other five mochis (is that right?) that came in the box are still untouched. WHAT SACRED TEXTS I READ The Dangers In My Heart - Volumes 4, 5, & 6 Ogami-san Can’t Keep It In - Volume 4 How To Treat A Lady Knight Right - Volumes 1 & 2 Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included - Volume 5 Rise Of The Outlaw Tamer And His Wild S-Rank Cat Girl - Volume 1 I’m shocked Kindle sells Outlaw Tamer, so I shall catch up on this h

WHAT’S ON MY MIND Finances . I had my semi-annual meeting with my financial advisor this week, and we’re both pleased with our results over the past two years.  He was also shocked with my appearance since I'm roughly 60 pounds lighter than I was the last time we met. WHAT I ATE Inspired by a recent Spo post, I made a spread out of Underwood deviled ham for lunch midweek. It was very tasty when mixed with mayo and sriracha, but I’m not a fan of its sodium content so I probably won't do that again anytime soon. I bought a tub of trail mix and quickly rediscovered why it along with chips should be labeled "The Great Weight Loss Inhibitors". You know, those snacks that make you graze on them all day long and sabotage your healthy habits. I threw the trail mix in the trash less than 48 hours after its purchase. WHAT I WATCHED A shout out goes to Jellyfish Can’t Swim In The Night , a musical anime on HIDIVE about four girls that form an anonymous artist group called “JEL

It's been many years since I subjected myself to a selfie, but after sending one to a friend after I got my haircut the other day I thought I'd post one for y'all. The Hal Jordan Green Lantern shirt is fitting for what was once New Comic Book Day. I'll need to buy another one, plus a few other tees, in a smaller size soon...

... Was Rewarded For My Faith This is not a post about religion or faith in the traditional sense. I promise this will not be a difficult conversation about faith, even if you know next to nothing about Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) vehicles.  With that disclaimer, here we go! A few hours ago, while sitting in the lobby of a haircut place, I noticed most of my stocks were having a "bad day" at The Casino of Emotions. It's important to use air quotes around that phrase since a bad day for others usually means a good buying opportunity for myself -- also known as "buying the dip". One of the stocks I "bought the dip" in while waiting my turn for a haircut was Nissan. It's now south of $8 a share, and I love what the taxes I pay to the Japanese government do for my American tax liability the following March. It's a stable stock, so I have faith that my investment in Nissan will continue to pay dividends, no pun intended. After I left the haircut

WHAT’S ON MY MIND Super GT is back! If you know me, then you also know I love Japan’s Super GT racing series the same way Date A Live’s Tohka Yatogami loves kinako bread. The livestreams keep me up past midnight, so I must adjust my internal clock accordingly. WHAT I ATE I reintroduced bacon bits into my veggie omelet recipe, and they will stay there as long as my lab work is acceptable.  WHAT SACRED TEXTS I READ Fairy Tale Team-Up: Robyn Hood and Gretel (American comics are also sacred texts!) The Dangers In My Heart, Volume 3 Shikimori Is Not Just A Cutie, Volume 16 I Married My Female Friend, Volume 2 Life With An Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated As A Fantasy Knockout, Volume 3 Death’s Daughter and the Ebony Blade, Volume 1 That last title was an intriguing read. The main character is an orphan raised by Death, looks like Rose Wilson, and has Deadpool’s carefree innocence about everything from baked bread to slaughtering baddies. Enough said. ... Fell In Love All Over Again Kurumi is no ordinary waifu . She's the name I've given to the 2016 Nissan GT-R I've raced in the Group 2 category in GT Sport/Gran Turismo 7 since 2018. Here's the story on how she got that name. Back in June 2020, the comics industry was at a standstill. While we (still) fought over masks, other parts of the world that had worn them without question had already moved on with their lives. With few entertainment choices on TV, I surrendered myself to a 14-day Crunchyroll trial and  Date A Live was one of the first older shows I streamed. As I enjoyed watching that first season, I was taken in by Kurumi Tokisaki, Japan's answer to Harley Quinn: a femme fatale/antiheroine whose popularity could rival Wonder Woman. The GT Sport version of that venerable GT-R was perfect for Kurumi's "Crimson Nightmare" nickname. Its motor produced an ungodly but fitting 666 horsepower, good enough to exceed 190 miles an hour at the end of

NOTE: The other day, I browsed a list of long and silly Japanese light novel titles and then I remembered how much I loved the anime Reborn As A Vending Machine, I Now Wander The Dungeon.  In honor of Boxxo and his companion Lammis, this is the title I’ll use for my weekly update post for at least this quarter. — Robzilla WHAT’S ON MY MIND Is it over yet? Spring has arrived, but I wouldn’t know that since I woke up to 44 degree temperatures this morning. I expect my heater to run off and on throughout the day.  Oh, there’s also snow in the mountains that’s not the kind my GTA Online character steals from LSPD cops and a cartel. More on that later... WHAT I ATE Three sin meals to celebrate my good fortune. You know, things I won't allow myself to eat again anytime soon due to their sodium and/or cholesterol content. WHAT I BOUGHT There are few things in life that make me as happy as shopping for new clothes in my new size. This time I needed jackets for the rain and cold. WHAT I L

... Pondered "What's In A Name?" I should be editing my novel now that I've had breakfast, but I need to get something off my chest. During my meal, I learned that the Oakland A's will move to Sacramento and play there for a few seasons while their shiny, new stadium on the Las Vegas Strip is built. That's assuming the Nevada Supreme Court doesn't throw a wrench into those plans in the coming weeks. I also learned the team will simply be called the A's while they're cohabiting a minor league stadium with San Francisco's AAA team. While I'd love to see the River Cats outdraw the A's, this also got me thinking about what the A's real name is. For years, I was told it was short for Athletics but considering John Fisher has done everything humanly possible to destroy a once proud major league baseball team I wonder if maybe the A's really mean... Abysmal Anemic Appalling Acrid Apathetic Ambivalence Nah. Calling them the Assholes has
